New release: ResolutionMD® 8.0 enhances accessibility, usability, and access control of medical images

July 26, 2021

Viewing, analyzing, and collaborating with medical images should be as seamless as sending an email or online banking.

Over the past 2 years, our team has worked on enhancing our ResolutionMD® solution to further optimize the user experience and integrate the image viewing experience into larger patient management workflows.

ResolutionMD® 8.0, our latest release, gives medical professionals the user-friendly experience they need to spend more time on consultations, collaborations, and diagnoses, and less time trying to access the images and patient information they need.

Our current users in over 45 countries around the world are already familiar with our standard features including:

  • advanced server side rendering for incredible performance on all devices
  • ability to create MIP/MPR views, with advanced features such as obliques, curved MPR, thick slab, and 3D volume renderings that can be created, viewed, and manipulated on any device
  • secure data access without moving or transferring data to the client device
  • federated and tiered searching directly from the multiple PACS or VNAs
  • automatic display of patient history and rapid filtering to find relevant content
  • support for GSPS, Key Objects and AI integrations
  • easy navigation of Key Objects within a series
  • multi-monitor support with intelligent layouts
  • launch directly to a Patient or study from within the EMR or clinical portal
  • history list of previously viewed studies for each user that follows from device to device to easily follow up initial read on a different setup

With ResMD 8.0, we’ve made it even simpler for healthcare professionals to use these features. We’ve also expanded the number of specialties we support by introducing new modalities.

New specialities supported

Many healthcare disciplines use imaging technology and access to all users is increasing with platforms like ResMD and appropriate access controls. Our latest iteration extends our support to many healthcare professionals that use medical imaging to make or review diagnosis and decisions. Specialists can now view and annotate patient images remotely, as well as collaborate in real time with other healthcare professionals.

Enhancements in cardiology

ResMD 8.0 supports DICOM 12-lead ECG viewing and allows reviewers to create and save linear measurements on ultrasound images.

Quick access to MPR and 3D images

ResMD 8.0 now offers quick access buttons for MPR and 3D images that users can access directly in the main toolbar.

DICOM header display

Site administrators can easily view all of the DICOM information they need, such as tag numbers, descriptions, VRs, and values, within one window by adding the DICOM Header Display.

Regional deployment support

ResMD 8.0 users can now view and create searches based on the IssuerOfPatientID within the ResMD interface to allow connections to disparate patient domains.

Access control for restricted and sensitive studies

Accessibility exists in partnership with access control. In healthcare contexts, access control is not just about protecting data from external or malicious attackers. It’s also about keeping information restricted only to clinicians who need to view them. This is especially important in situations where there are graphic images that are sensitive or images that must have restricted viewing to specific users or departments.

Expanding our support for healthcare workflows

Ultimately, the goal for every iteration of ResMD is to make it as easy as possible for healthcare providers to do their jobs. Healthcare professionals carry years of specialized experience. While it’s impossible to upload those decades of experience to a healthcare organizations’ servers for easy use by other professionals, it is possible to make it easier and more efficient to bring the data needed (e.g. images and reports) directly to these experienced professionals so they can use and share their knowledge as quickly as possible and improve patient outcomes. One way we're innovating is to add support for AI in ResMD by focusing on visualizing the AI results which are either available in the cloud via the Google Healthcare API for example, or directly accessible from the PACS or VNA.
